but it's not too early to start prepping work for Issue II.

Guidelines:

Send submissions to thomasonianmag@gmail.com.
Title your submission as LASTNAME_SUBMISSION
Include a cover letter and a brief third-person bio in the body of the email
If you are submitting to multiple categories, please outline this in the body as well
Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Our preference is unpublished pieces, but please let us know if/where a piece is previously published.

Requirements:

All pieces must feature an insight into the natural world. We prefer pieces featuring specifics, works that teach the reader something potentially new to them.
Please submit pieces in .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .jpg format.
Please not include your name or identifying information in the body of the document.
If you have multiple submissions, please begin each piece on a new page.

Creative Nonfiction:

(memoir, nature writing, etc.)

Maximum two pieces, no longer than 4000 words each.

Informal Essays:

Maximum two pieces, no longer than 4000 words each.

Poetry:

Maximum five pieces.

Photography:

Maximum five pieces.

Please provide a brief description per photo.

We do not consider pieces that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist.

We do not condone the use of AI. Any pieces written using AI software will not be considered.
